GENTING HIGHLANDS, July 28 – Academic advisors, industry practitioners and programme developers from various sectors gathered today for the Malaysia Productivity Corporation’s (MPC) Advanced Diploma in Education Design (ADED) workshop, a four-day programme designed to strengthen curriculum development and learning design for professional education under the Academy Dalam Industri (ADI) initiative.
The workshop, held from July 28 to 31 at Wyndham Ion Majestic, Genting Highlands, focuses on programme design, learning outcomes, assessment strategies, quality assurance and viva preparation to ensure professional qualifications are developed in line with industry needs and recognised educational standards.
Among the participating institutions is the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI), which is collaborating with MPC to develop and deliver the MPI–MPC Professional Diploma in AI Journalism and the MPI–MPC Professional Diploma in Cybersecurity Journalism.
Representing MPI are Ts. Dr. Zulimran Ahmad, Academic Advisor and Instructor for the MPI–MPC Professional Diploma in AI Journalism and Ts. Dr. Zubailie Abdullah, Academic Advisor and Instructor for the MPI–MPC Professional Diploma in Cybersecurity Journalism. Also attending the workshop are MPI Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ainol Amriz Ismail and Ibrahim Darman, Head of Social Media at MPI.
The two professional diploma programmes have received approval from the London Examination Board (LEB) for implementation, confirming that their curriculum, learning structure and assessment framework meet the required academic and professional standards.
Designed to address the rapid transformation of the media industry, the programmes will equip journalists, media practitioners and communication professionals with practical competencies in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital journalism, while emphasising ethical practice, critical thinking and industry relevance.
Applications for the inaugural intake will open in August, with both programmes expected to commence shortly thereafter as part of MPI and MPC’s efforts to strengthen industry-ready talent and support the future development of Malaysia’s media sector.
In addition to the MPI–MPC Professional Diploma in AI Journalism and the MPI–MPC Professional Diploma in Cybersecurity Journalism, MPI is also expanding its academic offerings to include Industry Diplomas and Industry Bachelor’s Degree programmes. These qualifications are designed to provide flexible, industry-driven pathways for working professionals seeking to advance their knowledge, practical skills and career progression while meeting current and future workforce demands.
The programmes form part of MPI’s long-term commitment to developing a comprehensive ecosystem of professional and industry-based education in collaboration with strategic partners, offering internationally recognised qualifications that combine academic excellence with real-world industry competencies.
