4. Seated at the main table with the PM were editorial supremos of Malaysia mainstream media

5. More than 800 guests, mainly journalists and MPI’s corporate friends attended the annual function

6. In his welcoming remarks, MPI CEO, Datuk Chamil Wariya thanks the PM and all guests

7. Dato’ Sri Najib, in his speech, said the government respected media freedom and lauded the news industry’s effort to set up the Malaysian Press Council, to self regulate the print media and enhance their professionalism in journalism

8. The PM also launched a book Membongkar Penyelewengan Mencari Kebenaran published by MPI

9. To mark Najib’s third year as PM, a cake in the form of a pulut kuning was presented to him

10. The night belonged to the winners of Malaysia MPI PETRONAS Journalism Award 2011. Collectively, they took home prize money worth RM300,000.00, courtesy of PETRONAS, sponsor of the Award since 1994

20. Shahril Kadir dan Aji Mazlan Serigar, TV3, Best TV Documentary

23. And the most prestigious award in Malaysian Journalism – the Kajai Award – went to Mohd Asron Mustapha and Mohd Termizi Che Anuar of Utusan Malaysia

24. They took home prize money worth RM30,000.00, a gold coin worth RM19,000.00 and 1Malaysia notebook, sponsored by the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture
